DEC 31/16  Gene Researcher for a Week
ARE YOU a mature, capable high school student age 16 and over who is passionate about science?  IF YES,  the Spring Break Gene Researcher for a Week (GRFAW) program is your opportunity to gain insight into the world about human genetics research and connect with the scientific community. The number of students selected each year depends on how many lab placements are available; typically it is between 40 and 50 students each year.  In this program you will participate in the activities in the lab with as much hands on experience as possible. 
Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:
• resident of Canada
• high school student in grade 11 or 12
• 16 years of age by January 1st of the year of participation
• high academic standing (overall GPA of 85% or higher)
• interest in pursuing a career/ education in human genetics
• well rounded in all areas (academic, volunteer and extra-curricular activities)
• complete application form and submit all required documentation by deadline
​• Must be willing to travel to another city or province to participate (up to 35% of our participants are placed outside of their home city/town)
